Consumatore:

Sulfamidici e i loro metaboliti vengono eliminati per via renale. Pazienti con compromissione della funzionalità renale possono essere a maggior rischio di effetti avversi da sulfamidici a causa della diminuzione di liquidazione droga. Dosaggio possono essere necessarie rettifiche e modifiche dovrebbero essere in base al grado di compromissione della funzionalità renale e della gravità dell'infezione. Inoltre, i sulfamidici possono causare tossicità renale secondaria a crystalluria, tra cui uro - e calcolosi renale, nefrite, tossico, nefrosi, ematuria, proteinuria ed elevata BUN e creatinina. Idratazione (8 oz. bicchiere di acqua con ogni dose e per tutto il giorno) e un'adeguata diuresi (> 1,5 L/die) deve essere mantenuto durante sulfamidico amministrazione. Test di funzionalità renale e delle urine deve essere eseguita ogni settimana, o più spesso, come indicato dallo stato del paziente. Raramente, l'alcalinizzazione delle urine è necessario.

Consumatore:

Trimetoprim è principalmente eliminato per via renale. La concentrazione sierica di trimethoprim può essere aumentata e l'emivita prolungata in pazienti con funzione renale compromessa. Dosaggio possono essere necessarie rettifiche e modifiche dovrebbero essere in base al grado di compromissione renale, nonché della gravità dell'infezione. Il produttore consiglia un dosaggio di 50 mg ogni 12 ore, in pazienti con clearance della creatinina compresa tra 15 a 30 mL/min e di non utilizzare il farmaco in pazienti con clearance della creatinina inferiore a 15 mL/min.
